Mercedes 420SEL Replacement Heater Core Information
The Mercedes 420SEL was a very popular luxury sedan that was available from 1979 until 1993. A coupe model of this car was available from 1981 until 1991. One important part of the cooling and ventilation system of the 420SEL is the heater core. The heater core is located underneath the dashboard and can be recognized by the winding metal pipes that make up most of the system. Heater cores also have a fan to direct the hot air from the coolant inside the pipes. Coolant leaves the engine and enters the heater core before heading to the expansion tank of the radiator. Here it gives off some of the heat and that heat is sent into the car whenever desired by the driver. Broken heater cores lead to extra strain on the radiator which could result in an overheated engine. Replacement 420SEL heater cores are available online through Parts Geek.
