The Hatch is used, in lieu of a trunk, as the holding zone for domestic cargo such as groceries, travel baggage, and tools. The strut is the thing that stops the hatch of your car from falling shut while you load in your cargo. Because this rear cargo area is often used, vehicles are equipped with a hatch strut. Its primary function is to hold the rear hood up whenever the vehicle owner loads or unload something into and from the cargo area. It uses a hydraulic tension shock to keep the hatch lid open. The hatch strut is comparable to the strut that mechanics use when checking on the suspension system. The only difference is that the strut used for the suspension system is bigger than the hatch strut. Most hatch struts are designed to endure frequent use and last for a long time, but if it goes bad, replacing it with a new one is the only solution.
