Mazda B2600 Replacement Fuel Pressure Regulator Information
The fuel pressure regulator on a Mazda B2600 has an uncomplicated make-up. It's essentially a spring activated valve that responds to excess pressure created by a vacuum in the fuel line. Recognizing that problem, the fuel pressure regulator opens wide to allow unneeded fuel to dump off into an adjoining container. The regulator maintains a constant pressure in fuel lines and also prevents too much fuel from interfering with acceleration, deceleration and other emission related operations.
The fuel pressure regulator doesn't fail very often. But if a problem does arise, it is usually the spring valve. The valve may be unable to spring open because it is clogged with foreign matter, or perhaps the spring is worn down. Corrosion can also be a problem.
