A tiny fluid coupling partially filled with silicon oil, featuring a thermostat-like part controlling speed, the Chevy S10 fan clutch ensures the entrance of cooler air into the engine. The Chevy S10 fan clutch moves air through the engine keeping the system from overheating. When air entering the engine gets too hot, the thermostat-like bimetal coil spring heats up and expands, or uncoils. This allows more oil to move through the fluid coupling rotating the fan.
