The Saab 93 expansion tank is an integral part of your car's cooling system, providing an overflow receptacle for the radiator fluid. Without a properly functioning expansion tank, the hot water and antifreeze mixture contained in the car's radiator would have nowhere to go when it expands during the heating process. The result would be a fluid leak, an overflowing radiator or worse, a radiator that bursts.
