Chevrolet Venture Replacement EGR Valve Information
The purpose of the EGR valves is to lower the temperature inside the cylinders, which lowers the amount of nitrogen oxide produced. The EGR valve opens as the exhaust gets hotter. These hot exhaust gases are transferred to the engine's intake, where they reduce the heat of the air and fuel combustion because the exhaust gases do not burn as well. When the temperature in the cylinders is lowered, your Chevrolet Venture generates less nitrogen oxides. A bad EGR valve will keep your Chevy from passing an emissions inspection, which is required for legal driving in many areas.
