Honda Passport Replacement Catalytic Converter Information
A catalytic converter is a device that uses catalytic reactions to convert the toxic byproducts of an internal combustion engine into substances with reduced toxicity. Most vehicles have a "three way" converter that converts oxides of Nitrogen, Carbon monoxide (CO), and unburned hydrocarbons. CO and unburned hydrocarbons are converted into CO2 and H2O vapor, while Oxides of Nitrogen are converted into CO2, H2O and N2. The Catalytic converter consists of platinum-iridium catalyst, ceramic monolith or rhodium, with a honeycomb type or ceramic beads placed within a hollow body with an inlet and an outlet, attached to the exhaust pipe, and protected by a metal heat shield. Catalytic converters normally last throughout the life of the vehicle. Replacement of a catalytic converter is rare. The catalytic converter by Honda passport is designed so that there is optimal engine output with catalytic effectiveness. It has a single inlet and outlet configuration.
