Chrysler 300M Replacement Camshaft Position Sensor Information
The camshaft position sensor that is installed on your Chrysler 300M is one of the many dozens of sensors utilized by the engine control computer to regulate various aspects of engine performance. The camshaft, which is responsible for operating the valves and pistons, is monitored by the camshaft position sensor at all times, allowing the computer to know the exact positioning of the pistons and valves, which information the computer uses for determining ideal timing for injecting fuel into the cylinders and for affecting the spark required for combustion.
A faulty camshaft position sensor will send inaccurate information to the engine control computer, which may result in any number of poor performance characteristics, sometimes preventing the engine from starting at all.
