Audi A6 Quattro Replacement Camshaft Position Sensor Information
The camshaft position sensor on your Audi A6 Quattro has an important function relating to your car's engine timing and performance. Sometimes referred to as the cam position sender, this device communicates with the vehicle's engine control module on a continual basis, sending data related to the positioning of the engine valves and pistons, which are operated by the camshaft.
Because combustion within the cylinders is a critically timed operation, requiring the spark to be timed at the ideal point of piston positioning, the computer needs accurate information from the cam position sensor to maintain top efficiency.
