Land Rover Range Rover Replacement Camshaft Information
Cams are the irregularly shaped pieces of metal that open and shut your engine's intake and exhaust valves in concert with the movements of the pistons. For every cylinder valve, there's one cam. These cams are attached to a metal rod called the camshaft. Camshafts have other functions as well. The drive shaft connects your oil pump to the camshaft. Overhead cam engines have camshafts that are placed directly over the cylinder valves. Overhead valve engines, on the other hand, have camshafts that are positioned in the center of the engine. Overhead valve engines have an advantage when it comes to engine acceleration since the engine has more low-end torque. Overhead cam engines have fewer moving parts, however. This allows the engine to run at a higher RPM, generating more power.
