Subaru Outback Replacement Brake Caliper Information
The brake calipers for the Subaru Outback are an important part used to help your car stop when the brakes are activated. The calipers work by producing friction on the rotors that spin with the wheels. The brake calipers in the Subaru Outback are located on top of the rotor and fits over it in the same way a clamp does. Each caliper contains two metal plates that are covered with brake pads. Whenever the brakes are applied, brake fluid produces hydraulic pressure on at least one of the pistons located inside of the brake caliper, which sends the pads up against the rotor. The high friction sides of the brake pads cause the rotor to slow down or stop. When this happens, the wheel also stops since they are connected.
