Ford Five Hundred Replacement Brake Caliper Information
Brake calipers work in conjunction with brake pads and brake rotors, together these part comprise the disc braking system your Ford Five Hundred uses on its front wheels. Brake calipers are metal plates that are activated by pistons. When you push on your brake pedal, the pressures sends brake fluid from your master cylinder through your brake hoses, which causes these pistons to push down on the calipers. The calipers then clamp down upon the brake pads and the brake rotors, forcing them up against your wheels. This is the movement that stops your car.
