Volvo 740 Replacement Air Mass Meter Information
Your Volvo 740's internal combustion engine relies upon a mixture of fuel and oxygen to generate power. The air mass meter measures the amount and density of the air entering your engine. When the air mass meter isn't operating correctly, the "Check Engine" warning light should go on in the instrument panel on your dashboard. You may also notice performance problems with your Volvo 740. You'll find it increasingly difficult to start your vehicle up. When your car does start, it may immediately stall. Your car will idle roughly, and you may hear backfiring when you put your foot on the gas pedal to accelerate. Air mass meters operate by means of hot wire element sensors that become cooler as more air enters the engine. The sensors relay this information to your Volvo 740's electronic control unit.
