Real Acura cars offer both legendary appearance plus superior handling. The price of a comfortable car is very important consideration making a purchase. Once the gas liquefies after being moved by the Acura RL AC Compressor, the air conditioner passes the cooled air into the cabin of the car or truck. Cooling systems must have cooling fluid, which must be relocated to the condenser by the AC Compressor. A high caliber AC Compressor will often optimize the power of your vehicle's temperature regulation system, which can boost the pleasure of your drive on a hot summer day. AC Compressors are installed behind the front grille where the air pushed the engine compartment can help cool down the Freon. Drivers who acquire an Acura RL are aware that reliability and comfort are well worth the time and energy; top-notch parts and accessories will keep your car in top shape.

Research on AC Compressor for Acura RL

As a flagship luxury sedan, the Acura RL was an odd bird. It was neither large nor roomy, and V6 was always its sole engine choice. Its style and design received paltry recognition notice among more prestigious makes, and was seldom mentioned even when models within its own family were discussed. Acura is hoping the RL's replacement, the RLX, can distinguish itself among the luxury pack in a way the RL never could. From a used-car standpoint, older first-generation Acura RLs are a mediocre breed. The second-generation Acura RL, produced from 2005-12, sported a tighter, more athletic look than its predecessor, but lacked the posh social standing of other luxury vehicles. The RL changed incrementally through the first few years of its third generation. For 2006, the RL gained the Technology package that included adaptive cruise control, run-flat tires and a collision-preventing radar-based active braking system. In 2009, Acura face-lifted the RL with its controversial design language, and most of the controversy was not good. The good news was that the 3.7-liter V6 gained 10 hp and a six-speed automatic transmission replaced the five-speed unit.

Most vehicles have as air cooling problem at one time or another, and the Acura RL is no exception. If your air conditioning is set to maximum cool and the fans on high, but is only blowing moderately cool air, check to see that the cooling fans on the condenser or radiator are running when the air conditioning is on. Look for any impediments like leaves, bugs or dirt that would keep air from passing over the condenser. Check the cabin air filter to ensure that it is not clogged. Make sure that the clutch is engaging on the compressor. If the clutch is not engaging, use a voltmeter to check for voltage getting to the compressor. If there is voltage, the problem might be with the clutch. If there is no voltage, a fuse may be blown and the system may not have enough refrigerant pressure to trip the low-pressure cutoff switch that cycles the compressor. The most likely cause of an automotive air conditioner cooling problem is a lack of refrigerant in the system. If the refrigerant has leaked out, the leak needs to be identified and repaired before the system is recharged. On many systems, the "low pressure safety switch" prevents the compressor clutch from engaging if system pressure is low. This protects the compressor from possible damage caused by a lack of lubrication.

Keep in mind that your RL AC is just a strangely configured refrigerator. It's designed to move heat from one place to another place. By pushing the hot air out, you are making room for the cool air to come in. The compressor holds the compressed Freon in a tank until it reaches the necessary pressure before pumping it into the condenser. If your compressor is not working, you are not going to have any air conditioning until you replace it.

What is the Acura RL compressor replacement cost?

AC compressors don't come cheap. PartsGeek prices its Denso AC compressors for the Acura RL from $298.33 to $401.48. These prices, while they might seem high, are less than half the retail price.

1997 Acura RL A/C Compressor

Very Satisfied
Reviewer: So far, so good

This a/c compressor has been installed in my RL for about 2 -3 months now. I seriously have never had a car blow air this cold. My glasses frost up when I get out of the car and into the hot Florida air. The only thing that concerns me is a slight whine when the a/c is turned on. I had it checked out by my mechanic and he was not concerned. So, overall, I am very very pleased.
