The engine coolant recover tank replaces an older unit that may have been damaged in an accident or has developed a leak, causing coolant to leave the system and expose vital engine parts to friction and high temperature conditions. It also allows coolant to flow back into the engine when it cools down after the vehicle has been shut off.
