This washer pump from VDO fits BMW X5 vehicles made between 2000 and 2006. The washer pump pushes windshield washer fluid from the reservoir through to the windshield. When the pump quits working, the windshield washer fluid cannot be used to clear dirt or mud off the windshield. While not a critical replacement that keeps the vehicle from being driven if it remains unattended, the washer pump should be replaced when possible. Having a working washer pump makes it easier to remove debris on the windshield that can block the driver's view. Clearing such things away immediately with a squirt of washer fluid makes driving safer.
