Lower Engine Cover Reviews - 2004 Mazda 3

Replaced side supports for my 2008 Mazda 3. They are more flimsy than the stock skirts, but have held up very well.

My original skid plate was broken in a few critical places, especially where the retaining bolts were mounted. Cheapest price I could find for the official OEM part was $149 online - more at my local dealer. This part is a perfect replacement for the OEM. I recommend that you CAREFULLY check to make sure of the pieces you need. I initially only ordered 2 of the 4 pieces for the complete set. Well, when I went to assemble the new pieces, I realized that the other 2 original pieces were damaged as well and now I have to order replacements for them. No worries, the COMPLETE SET is still less than half of the OEM price for this ONE PIECE! 2 Thumbs up!

The material is thicker and more flexible than OEM, and seems to line up acceptably close (not perfect) to the right form on my 2004.

I'm not sure what part the other reviewers have received, but the part I got had *no* metal spine. Luckily, most of my old spine was still intact so I was able to rivet it to this part to my satisfaction. You'll also need to reuse your old bolts and threaded mounting grommets as no hardware comes with this part.

Sadly, we are missing bolts that would make this part work. Don't have enough time to research/order, so we have not installed. Part looks correct.

This looks like an OEM part made with factory tooling because the one I received was clearly brand new but had the Mazda part numbers scratched off. So this is an OEM part that fits perfectly and includes the riveted metal brace across the back. The six metric (6M I believe) speed nuts are not included, but you can get them at any auto parts store for around $3 if you didn't remove them from the original one before tossing out like I did. I'm 100% satisfied with this purchase, and now my accessory belts won't be prone to slip on the pulleys every time I drive in the rain. Thank you Parts Geek!!
