1974 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia MufflerReview Fitment Notes to Ensure Proper Fit
Part Number: W0133-1611391
I replaced a German-made VW muffler with this product of the Czech Republic. I managed to get it installed, but I encountered a few challenges. I was able to line up 7 of the 8 bolts/studs, but I couldn't line up the final bolt, even with the use of a pry bar. I had to drill out the hole on one heat riser slightly. The flange on one of the pipes for the tailpipe was bent, and I had to bend it back to install the tailpipe. Still, the fit with the gasket was not optimal. The muffler does not include the metal connectors for the fan shroud heater hoses, so I recycled the old ones. The openings on the muffler for these metal connectors also had to be bent with pliers to allow installation of the connectors. Finally, the pipe from the existing EGR filter did not line up with the opening on the muffler, so I removed the filter, heated the pipe, and finally got things to line up. Overall, a difficult installation.
