Centerforce is a brand of transmission parts including clutches, pressure plates, release bearings, and flywheels. Built under the umbrella of Midway Industries, the Centerforce brand is designed around proven scientific principles of weight and centrifugal force. It works to increase clamping loads on clutches, ease the pedal effort, and eliminate disastrous problems with components of high performance engines of the past. The company was started in 1982 by Bill Hayes, a legendary hot rod driver as he was looking to improvements to existing clutch and pressure plate designs. The Centerforce Weighted Clutch System, compatible with non-asbestos friction facings, was the result of his efforts. This product led to additional inventions and patents which helped the company to grow.
Originally a small speed shop located in Midway City, California, Centerforce now has a reputation of reliability and durability respected throughout the automotive industry. It is now located in a 48,000 square foot manufacturing center in Prescott, Arizona. The Centerforce division of Midway Industries won PWA's Manufacturer of the Year award in 1998 and has been nominated for the recognition many other times. Various other products in the brand have been recognized with new product and packaging awards.
