Accel makes many products to be used on the ignition system, including the parts for the distributor like this distributor cap and rotor kit. Included with this kit is a single cap and rotor. The tan colored construction is created through a process that ensures the seams are exceptionally strong because natural stress from the construction process has been released from the seams. The distributor needs a cap and rotor to do its job of sending power to the spark plugs. The rotor and cap together work to ensure that the timing is exact for when each spark plug gets the power it needs and the order it is done in. The rotor moves like the minute hand of a clock, sweeping past each of the contacts on the distributor cap. This triggers a spark between the contact and rotor, which is sent down a wire that connects a spark plug to that contact.
