This LUK Clutch Kit will work with Mercury Cougars from '99, '00, '01 and '02. The Clutch Kit helps the driver switch gears by using the engine's flywheel and friction disks; when the clutch is depressed, the flywheel and clutch plate become disjointed, disengaging the vehicle's motor from the wheels and allowing the engine to turn freely. In cars with an automatic transmission, a Clutch Kit is integrated into the transmission system, while manual transmissions need the car owner to engage the clutch by themselves, usually via the pedal by your brake pedal. Mercury Cougars from model years 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 are compatible with this replacement part. Other vehicles are unlikely to be compatible, and this part should not be installed on those cars or trucks.
